Welcome to Places & People.
I have long been fascinated by the relationship between people and the places they inhabit. Cities are more than roads, buildings and skylines; they are repositories of memory, culture and human experience. From ancient souqs to modern megaprojects, every place tells a story.
I am a professional writer with a background in education and development. Living and working between the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia has given me the opportunity to experience different cultures, cities and ways of life. These experiences have deepened my interest in how places shape communities—and how communities, in turn, shape places.
Through Places & People, I explore cities, history, travel, culture and urban planning. My aim is to tell the stories of places, draw connections between past and present, and better understand the forces shaping the cities of tomorrow.
This website is an ongoing journey: a place for essays, reflections and publications, and perhaps one day a podcast. My hope is that it encourages readers to look at cities differently—not simply as places to live, but as expressions of our shared humanity.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy the journey.
